The D Tiffin

The D tiffin has

Dhokla

Dates

Dabeli

dosa

Doughnut

Doesn’t D tiffin sound little heavy… haha the Bhai Giri D company kinda tiffin.

Jokes apart, the land of missiles…errr….remember 3 idiots yes the MISSILES I mean are dhokla, khakra, fafda, gathiya, well I never felt that they are missiles as I love these snacks or what gujju’s called them “farsan” the ultimate namkeen.

If you order a thali it accompanies the ‘farsan’ for sure so gujjus cant skips this be it any occasion, regular thalli or a chai ki pyali, a marriage function or railway junction…

my aai cooks yum dhoklas, I will try them too but this generation which is always in hurry I thought of trying the instant version first. as it is microwave is there, soda is there so why waste and of course mom don’t worry will try the traditional version too soon.

so here’s the instant dhokla to save time but relish tongue.

Dhokla batter

  • 1 big coffee mug of besan
  • 1 big coffee mug water ( same )
  • 1/2 teaspoon citric acid crystal
  • salt n sugar as per taste

mix all well..so that there are no lumps, then add 1 sachet of non- flavored eno ( fruit salt ) pour it on the batter and mix it vigorously….batter will rise almost double. Now, pour it in about 6 inches greased microwave plate and microwave it on high for 3.5 to 4 mins. Let it cool and then cut it into pieces after few minutes of resting out of the oven…

Tempering

mustard seeds, Hing, red dry chili n curry leaves

ENJOY !!

I have a very interesting story about dhokla. Every time I would cook it, it turned out to be a disaster. Finally my husband quit eating it and told me it’s dhokha not dhokla😂 later I mastered the art of making it. Loved the quick fix recipe, will try out.

    • Ha-ha that’s fun. Had happened with me as I every time use to forget adding the instant agent soda but with time now have learnt the way to it. Glad you have mastered the dhoka.

  10. Dabeli is my favorite. Recently I have learned to make Dhoklas in Microwave oven. It just takes 10 minutes. It’s been a long time I made these.

  11. Dhokla and dosa are love!!

  12. I am so happy to see Dosa, my Favouritest in your D tiffin.
I love dhokla and make it the way you have shared. This reminds me that it’s been ages, since I made it at home. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂
