Ending the Year with a Sunset overlooking Eucalyptus – Tree Love December.

Take down all your troubles
And wrap up your regret,
Tie the to the rays of light
The sun sheds as it sets.

– Erin Hanson

As the sun sets on the last days of the year, I find myself in quiet reflection, watching nature tell its timeless tale. A sunset, so full of color, beauty, and peace, isn’t just an ending—it’s a promise. A promise that though the light dims now, it will rise again with new warmth, a new day, and new opportunities.

The end of the year feels much like a sunset—drawing curtains on a chapter filled with triumphs, challenges, laughter, and lessons. Each fiery streak on the horizon holds whispers of dreams we chased, moments we cherished, and the resilience we found in the face of change.

Across the heaven’s graying space,
Low murmurs reach me from the town,
As Day puts on her sombre crown,
And shakes her mantle darkly down.

– Paul Laurence Dunbar

Just as no two sunsets are the same, no two years are alike. Yet, the lessons carried forward are timeless, the hopes we hold onto eternal. Watching the sun set on the year reminds me to let go of regrets and celebrate the blessings, even in fleeting moments.

When the new sun rises, it will bring with it a blank page—a fresh calendar. There’s a strange magic in standing at the edge of both endings and beginnings. It invites hope, the anticipation of dreams yet to be written, and the promise of growth.

Eucalyptus Tree

I overlooked these eucalyptus trees from my terrace back in Nilgiris. Daily my morning tea was accompanied by looking over them. Standing like tall pillars I was always amused and kept looking. These pictures are also taken at different intervals of time. Its beautifully landscaped surroundings make it a perfect spot to sit quietly, meditate, or admire the scenic beauty.

Eucalypts contribute positively to the environment by controlling desertification; afforesting denuded sites; and providing land use for saline and alkaline soils of pH up to 8.5. In some areas, eucalypts help save biodiversity by meeting fuel and small wood needs otherwise coming from natural forests.

Leaves of Eucalyptus globulus and E. citriodora are used for the extraction of oil. I love using eucalyptus oil for its fragrance as a freshener in my rooms. In India, it is called Nilgiri oil in Hindi, which is used in various healing products. They are the tallest trees and eucalyptus oil is obtained from its leaves.

Eucalyptus and eucalyptus essential oil may have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. It has potential uses as an insect repellent and insecticide and can help relieve symptoms of coughs and colds.

“Every sunset is an opportunity to reset”.

A new year feels like holding a pen with endless ink. It’s a chance to imagine and create. New goals, new passions, and even the old ones with a new perspective. It’s an opportunity to rediscover the beauty of being alive and inspired by the simplicity of a sunrise—a start.

The sunset inspires stories and poems, just as a chapter’s end inspires dreams. From its vivid hues to the way it paints the sky with fleeting colors, it reminds me that endings are not to be feared. They are to be cherished, for they pave the way for brighter mornings and boundless potential.

As the sun dips below the horizon one last time this year, I embrace its wisdom. The beauty in endings. The promise of new beginnings. Let’s carry that inspiration into the new year—living not just to mark days off a calendar but to pursue meaning, laughter, and dreams. Here’s to welcoming a brighter, inspiring sunrise that awaits. 🌅
