Over time, I’ve learned valuable lessons that have helped make each trip more convenient and enjoyable. From plane rides and train journeys to road trips in our trusty mini truck, each experience has been unique.

Soon the summer vacations are going to begin and If you’re a parent feeling hesitant about traveling with young kids, I’m here to share some practical tips and must-haves to ease your worries and make your family adventures smoother and happier!

Must-Have Items for Kids on the Go

    • Portable Board Games: Carry small games like Ludo or Snakes & Ladders to keep kids entertained in hotel rooms.
    • Favorite Toys: A small teddy, doll, or a couple of cars can be comforting for your child.
    • Music & Rhymes: Download their favorite rhymes on your phone or tablet—but skip mobile games to avoid overstimulation.

  • Colic drops for stomach issues.

  • Peanuts, makhana, and murmura for healthy munching.
  • Homemade snacks like laddus, chakli, and namakpare.
  • Assorted chips (potato, jackfruit, banana) and biscuits.
  • Cup-o-noodles for quick meals during unexpected delays.

Road Trip Essentials

Road trips are our favorite, especially in our mini truck! A few tips for long car journeys:

  • Start early in the morning (around 5 AM) to make the most of quiet roads. Carry a warm blanket to keep sleeping kids cozy.
  • Pack cold sandwiches, parathas, or pooris from home to tide over until you find a good restaurant.
  • Always stop at clean, child-friendly places for breaks, ensuring the kids can freshen up comfortably.

Tips for First-Time Travelers with Kids
