How to celebrate this August festive season?

How to Celebrate August festive season?  When festivals and celebrations are there, sweettooth and sweet cravings automatically arise. “Isi baat par muth toh meetha karna hi Hoga.” With so many festivals around the corner my sweet cravings are growing. So let’s celebrate August festivity with some sweets on platter. In all the sweets the simplest to make is coconut barfi. Raksha Bandhan in Maharashtra is associated with coconut and that’s why this day is also called as “नारळी पूर्णिमा”, will share the recipe to make this yummy simple sweet. It’s considered auspicious to make नारळ or नारियल or coconut sweet that day.

  1. Heat desi ghee or clarified butter in a pan/ wok or kadai.

  2. Next, add grated wet coconut to it. Roast properly till it's milk is reduced.

  3. Add milk/ khoya/ milkmaid to it with sugar.

  4. Keep stiring continuously till reduced to thick paste. The sign is that the mixture will start to come together and turn thick.

  5. Add cardamom powder before switching off gas.

  6. Grease a steel-plate with little butter, and immediately pour this mixture on greased plate.

  7. Using a bowl or katori or even spatula try to fit it properly in plate and level it from above to get uniform surface.

  8. Allow it to cool for 15 minutes and cut in desired pieces.

If you have mava or khoya then reduce milk quantity.

Increase khoya if using less milk

If both khoya or milk is unavailable we can use milkmaid tin also by decreasing sugar as milkmaid is already sweet.
