My Podcasting Journey – Celebrating International Podcast Day

Podcast: When? Where? Why? Which?

My podcasting journey began in 2020 with just a handful of recordings. At first, it was something small and simple—a way to create stories for children, hoping to ignite their imagination through the magic of audio. But soon, a question lingered in my mind: why stop there?

Why not share poems, stories, and creative musings that listeners of all ages could enjoy? After all, not everyone has the time to sit down with a book. Some prefer listening, some long for a familiar voice to accompany their day, and some simply want words that soothe, inspire, or spark reflection.

For me, podcasting became that bridge between words and ears—a space where storytelling could travel without boundaries.

Finding My Voice

I often think of a poem by Shel Silverstein, The Voice:

There is a voice inside of you
That whispers all day long,
“I feel that this is right for me,
I know that this is wrong.”

That “voice inside” guided me into podcasting. It told me to trust my words, to trust my stories, and to trust the connections they could create. What began as recordings for children grew into a deeper journey—of reaching out, of speaking gently into silence, of making my voice a companion to someone else’s day.

Starting Out: Tools and Platforms

Podcasting in India has expanded beautifully in the last few years. Platforms like Spotify for Podcasters made it easy to begin—user-friendly, free, and beginner-friendly. Soon I discovered others like Hubhopper, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, and Podbean, each offering unique features for creators.

The lockdown, though difficult, became my creative turning point. While the world stood still, my inner world began to move—scribbled notes turned into recorded poems, random musings became reflections, and the chaos of uncertainty found rhythm in creativity.

The Evolution of My Journey

Podcasting helped me discover a new identity—the “word weaver” in me. Writing was always my passion, but giving my words a voice was a revelation. Through podcasting, I found Purnatatwa—a sense of completeness, infinity, and wholeness that I now share with my listeners.

Podcasting, for me, is not just about episodes or platforms—it is about creating connections. It is about resonating with someone’s experiences, offering a moment of peace, joy, reflection, or even nostalgia.

This journey, to me, is what Purnatatwa means: completeness, infinity, a wholeness that I discovered within and now share outwardly through my podcast. It’s about reaching listeners with words that connect us, resonate with our experiences, and offer moments of joy, reflection, and perhaps a bit of solace. And that’s what podcasting is to me—a way to explore and express my inner voice, hoping it finds a welcome place in your heart and mind.

A Poetic Reflection of My Journey

I never knew the “me” within,
Until one fine day, lockdown set in.
Chaos and creativity crossed their path,
Random musings filled the aftermath.

Anxiety and emptiness, a curious pair,
Joined hands in the quiet air.
Thoughts on paper found a voice,
And poems and stories started to rejoice.

I never knew the “word weaver” in me,
Until I met the voice that set it free.
This is Purnatatwa—infinity’s grace,
Completeness found in a sacred space.
