In the 69th episode of Green Tatwa Talks, I had the pleasure of conversing with a truly dynamic personality – Anuradha P. Dhawan, popularly known as Anu PD. A designer, entrepreneur, sustainability innovator, forest campaigner, and responsible traveler, Anu has beautifully woven creativity and conscious living into every aspect of her life.
With an adventurous life shaped by her army-brat upbringing, Anu’s journey is both inspiring and thought-provoking. Her Instagram handle @anu27pd reflects her multi-faceted persona, promoting #SlowFashion, #ResponsibleTravel, and #Repurpose—principles she not only speaks about but also lives by.
The Designer with a Purpose
Through her label Anu PD – House of A4A Studio, located on MG Road, Ghitorni, Anu has been creating sustainable fashion for versatile women. Her designs focus on custom-made, artisanal, and repurposed clothing, aligning with the values of circular fashion. She champions swapping, reusing, and repurposing rather than indulging in fast fashion.
The brand is not just about creating garments but about telling a sustainable story. Her incubator program, showcased at the Turkish Ambassador’s residence, also nurtures fresh creative ideas in fashion while keeping the environment in mind.
Around The Des™ – Honest Sustainability All A-round
One of Anu’s most impactful initiatives is Around The Des™, which connects sustainable fashion, responsible travel, and mindful lifestyles under one banner. As she beautifully puts it:
🌍 “Indian – Striving for Circularity all a-round!”
With Around The Des, Anu highlights that true sustainability begins with the 5Rs — Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Repurpose, Recycle. The platform doesn’t just spread awareness but also creates experiences, such as the much-loved Sustainable Fashion Swap initiative. Supported by Earth Day Network and global partners like Remake Our World, this campaign carries the motto:
✨ “SWAP not SHOP.”
The upcoming 4th edition of the Sustainable Fashion Swap in May 2025 (NCR) invites people to go “green-glam” by exchanging pre-loved clothing instead of buying new. It is a brilliant reminder that conscious fashion can be fun, glamorous, and community-driven.
Through Around The Des, Anu is not just addressing wardrobes but redefining lifestyles—making us reflect on how we travel, consume, and live.
A Heart that Beats for Forests
Beyond fashion, Anu’s soul resonates with forests and conservation. She is one of the Founder Members of the Aravalli Bachao Citizens Movement and actively campaigns for the protection of the fragile Aravalli ranges.
Through the #MyAravallis campaign under the collective Earth You And Me, Anu and her team have been spotlighting the urgent need to save the Aravalli forests. She organizes:
- Healing Forest Walks – connecting people with nature through mindful, meditative experiences.
- Travelling Exhibitions – over 16 venues across NCR have already witnessed the Aravalli Travelling Exhibition.
- Community Engagements – from citizen outreach to working with schools, RWAs, and volunteer groups.
- Awareness Drives – petitions, ploggathons, waste segregation campaigns, and eco-friendly zero-waste events.
Her role as a Forest Healing Guide blends her passion for nature with her gift of connecting people to the environment.
A True Sustainability Influencer
Whether it is composting at home, organizing zero-waste events, or writing about sustainable travel and fashion, Anu walks the talk. She has also been part of media campaigns on ageism and women empowerment (featured in Hindustan Times & Cosmopolitan magazine), proving that sustainability and empowerment go hand in hand.
Her life philosophy is simple yet profound— live consciously, repurpose creatively, and connect deeply with nature.
My Reflection
Speaking to Anu in this episode of Green Tatwa Talks felt like a refreshing walk in the forest itself—calm, rejuvenating, and deeply inspiring. From fashion studios to forest trails, her journey proves that sustainability is not a choice, but a lifestyle.
Her story reminds us that every garment, every journey, every community effort can contribute to a larger cause—of healing our planet.
