Definition of xeriscape
Xeriscaping refers to the conservation of water through creative landscaping.
It was developed for drought-afflicted areas, but in today’s world it is gaining more momentum. It’s in wide use all over the world.
Derived from the Greek xeros meaning “dry,” the term means literally “dry landscape.”
To use a wide variety of attractive plants but insists on common-sense measures that will help conserve water, such as grouping plants with similar water requirements together. Not only does this practice save you money, but it can also save your plants, since many a plant is killed through over-watering.
Plants most suited to xeriscape landscaping are sometimes referred to as “xeric” plants.
Advantages of xeriscape is that it saves water, the first and foremost benefit.
Maintenance cost and time is reduced as similar plants are grouped together.
Water conservation is the need of time and xeriscaping helps us achieve it.
It also helps to maintain and improve the quality of soil.
It gives us beautiful landscapes that too by reducing time, resources and above all water.
