Thursday Tree Love – foothill trees

Some common trees even if they pass you from the roadside or have no special mention still become very special. My tree love for these banana and palm trees is very special. Why I love these trees is cause they are the indicator of my favorite hills.

The pics of my foothill trees are very dear to me.

I’m not a mountain or hill girl but last few years when I found my new home in Nilgiris there was no looking back. In the last few years, I have developed a unique fondness for Nilgiri hills, they are my abode. I always feel that the hills always call me back.

Whenever I go down to Coimbatore, from Nilgiri hills to plains as they say in the local language I start missing my mountains badly. And till I reach this spot at a place called Mettupalayam which is the foothills of Nilgiris I long for the sight of Nilgiri mountains.

I love all these banana trees and palm trees that grow in this area, in this particular stretch of land. It is the last spot or ground where banana trees and palm trees grow. The reason is ahead of it in hills the climate and soil are not apt for bananas or palm trees. This place where these banana and palm trees grow, they tell me that my hills are not far now.

These pics I always miss taking, as I never get a chance while driving back and am always in hurry to reach back home. This time I was a pillion rider on the bullet and got a chance to click fast pics that too from bike only.

I feel these trees are always waiting for me to tell yes home is not far away now and we are here protecting the foothills for you.

  1. This is beautiful, Pragun. I have never lived near the mountains or by the sea. But then as I started travelling, I have felt an attachment for the mountains. Like you feel, there is calling when I come to the plains.
Loved your shot and knowing that you clicked when you were on the bike makes it more exciting. So glad you joined #ThursdayTreeLove. See you on the 24th.

My fondness for mountains grew gradually and now I long to be back in mountains whenever I go down or elsewhere.
Pics clicked from bike didn’t give me desired image but they are dear to me as they have hint of Nilgiri hills.

  3. Now since I also stay in mountain town, I can understand your feeling. It snowed a lot here today but still I love this place.
