Mother is our Encyclopedia, educator, and event planner too

Mothers are life-givers, they are the ones who are there to hold our hands when we take our first steps, they help us understand the world around us but most of all a mother plays the role of a child’s first teacher. The child looks at her and tries to impersonate her, they learn to distinguish between the good and bad. Moms play numerous roles, I find Mother is our Encyclopedia and event planner too, she is even an educator and entertainer too. Today is Letter E in the series – Mom’s Be Everything, my series for April AtoZ where I bring to you all the roles mothers had played with the letter “E”.

Event planner

Mothers schedule, they plan, they are like timetables for her kids. What else can I say? From play dates to doctor’s appointments to school events to after-school activities to vacations to any number of other events, mothers schedule…a lot! Mothers are the best event planners, they help children understand on their own to plan life and days for themselves.

They may not realize it but Moms are essentially event planners. It most likely begins before their children are even born. Many moms-to-be put together birth plans and other detailed lists of things they need to purchase, decorate, arrange, etc., before their “main event” arrives.

As their baby grows, the event planning responsibilities increase. Moms must arrange playdates and coordinate school and activity schedules (in addition to her work schedule). From allergies (of both her kids and her kids’ friends) to picky eaters, she has to ensure that everyone is healthy and satisfied.

Educator

Before we actively start learning at school, we learn a lot of life lessons at home, primarily from mothers. We learn from them much more from what is taught in school lessons. Mothers are a huge part of our lives. She is our first educator and teacher too.

Who has the biggest influence on my life? While I have learned from many great teachers, the greatest and the most influential of all is my mother. I grew up watching my mother work hard day and night. Being a lecturer and principal, she provided me with all the necessities to the best of her interest.

She taught me the values of hard work and education to achieve our dreams. By working hard, my mother has taught me discipline and time management. The fact is women should be independent but at the same time not let the family members suffer. She also taught me to never give up. When I struggled with physical and emotional problems, she was always there to give me the support and motivation I needed.

Encyclopedia

Yes, mothers are her kid’s first encyclopedia. The answer of all the why’s in the world, all the how’s and all the where’s, who’s and what’s. She has a rich experience that you can learn from. You ask a question and she has all the answers. Sometimes tricky sometimes funny but she has all the answers to even our stupidest queries.

Errand Runner

Haha don’t laugh it loud, yes mothers have been errand-runner for ages. They play, they chill, they enjoy, and then who cleans up space… ahh the mommy dears. Yes, I do ask them to clean up the mess and organize but the instructions you see have to be given by mom who else.

A majority of moms work outside the home. Once baby arrives, not only are they juggling their work schedule, meetings, events, and more, they are also now juggling the baby’s schedule of check-ups, classes, tummy time… the list goes on and on.

Entertainer

Of course, moms become entertainer when she becomes a singer, performer, actress, lullaby soother, magician, their personal audio book, Fort Engineer, dancer, joker and so many things to make them laugh as well as learn too.

The Emotional Backbone

Mothers are the first friends and confidants we make at a very young age, and the bond grows strong. Moms serve as the emotional backbone and contribute immensely to positive child development. Researchers also proved that a child’s development, character, and attitudes, depend a lot on the mother. This indicates a clear correlation to the nurture and emotional support that a mother provides to her child.

“The job of an educator is to teach students to see the vitality in themselves.”
— Joseph Campbell

This is the letter “E” in the journey of motherhood where we explore Mom’s roles in their children’s lives. Mom’s are everything for her kids, you name it we have it. Mother is our Encyclopedia and event planner too, she is the first educator and entertainer too. Do read my earlier letters to enjoy the AtoZ of motherhood roles.
Do check out how moms are our first designers and dental hygienist too.
