World Food Day is observed every year on 16 October in remembrance of the day when the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations was founded in 1945. The primary focus is to tackle global hunger and strive to eradicate hunger across the world.
Few lines just as a reminder to manage the food we eat and not to waste it ever.
Don’t waste Food Poem
Food precious food
It’s the lifeline for our own good.
Never waste or throw it,
Learn ways to utilize it.
Make a meal plan
Make less, it won’t harm.
Buy what you need,
Eat what you buy,
That’s how you can try
One step at a time and
Unknowingly you will feed a stomach too.
Store food properly,
Don’t let it get spoiled.
Organize a food drive,
Help feed someone and survive.
Join a Food Bank,
A reason many will really thank.
Let us not forget to celebrate FOOD
As it’s the most important as viewed.
Let not hunger prevail,
And there be food on a large scale.
Let no one suffer from starving,
Each respect his or her serving.
Got Extra food?
Importantly, there are many organizations that are working towards providing food to less fortunate people. Like Robin Hood Army which is a zero-funds organization that works to get surplus food from restaurants and communities to the less fortunate.
furthermore, recently many people came out during lockdown to feed the needy, do read more about them in my post – Bring hope and smile back by feeding people.
In essence, On World Food Day, lets promise ourselves to never waste food. Reduce its wastage as an initiative and contribution to save food for those who are hungry, let us make a big difference with our small actions.
Above all, In India, Annapurna is worshipped as a Hindu goddess of food and nourishment. Food is considered sacred in Hinduism, and prayers are offered before consuming it. Anna means food and purna mean filled completely. Goddess Annapurna is depicted with a golden ladle in one hand and a jeweled bowl full of rice in another. The bowl full of grain depicts the bountiful of food she offers all of her children.
Blessed are those who get to enjoy three meals every day, let us thank God for blessing us with food. A very Happy World Food Day to you.
Had written this poem a month ago when migrants walked the streets hungy and bare foot, hoping for a filled plate for every human on this earth.
