Yoga with kids
I am a yoga fancier and that makes me more interested in teaching my kids yoga. there are few kids friendly yoga positions too and they are worth a try. In this fast paced world this little time wil help kids relax from there school pressures or competitive sports etc.
With Yoga children can derive enormous benefits be it physically or mentally. Physically, it improves their flexibility, strength, and coordination. Also it helps in concentration, calmness and relaxation. Once kids develop interest in yoga they can exercise, play, and connect more deeply with the inner self, and also will develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them and balancing the panchtatwa’s of nature and chakras of body too.
When teachin gyoga to kids, the greatest challenge is to hold their attention long enough to teach them the benefits of yoga and tell them the importance of balance, flexibility, focus, stillness, concentration, peace, connection, health, and well-being.
I have full faith in Surya namskar, but before they develop interest in Surya Namaskar we can tell them about some sound yoga or some simple and fun yoga poses like –
- easy pose – sukhasan
- tree yoga-vrikshasan
- bow pose – dhanurasana
- cobra pose – bhujangasan
- cow face pose- gowmukhasan
- happy baby pose – ananda balasan
- hero pose – virasana
- mountain pose – tadasan also good for height in children
- warrior pose – virbhadrasan
- bee sound- bhramari prananyam
I am these days myself teaching my kids Surya namaskar and with this surya namaskar shloka
Along with yoga a healthy and balanced meal will help boost there immunity and strength.
